Meet Corene

Hello, I am Corene Crossin, a registered psychotherapist with specialist training in Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy and post-graduate degrees in psychology and counselling. I’m so glad you are here.

I work with thoughtful adults who are curious about their inner world and ready to look more closely at the patterns shaping their lives.

People see me for support with change, loss, self-worth, relationship and attachment issues, body image, and for freedom from self-sabotage. Many of my clients come to me after not seeing results from other forms of therapy or self-help, and are ready for real change.

How I work

IFS forms the foundation of my work, and I integrate elements from other evidence-based therapies and somatic approaches when they serve your goals. My approach is trauma-informed, collaborative, compassionate, and adapted to what you need.

At the heart of my work is a belief that change becomes possible when you feel safe enough to be fully seen, including by yourself.

What Clients Say

Do you ever feel like different parts of you want different things? Maybe one part wants to do one thing, but another part resists change. Or perhaps you hear a harsh inner critic, even when you know logically you're doing your best.

IFS therapy recognises you have different parts inside (like a harsh critic, an anxious planner, or a part that withdraws). These parts developed to protect you, but they often work against each other now. In IFS, we get curious about these parts, understand what they're protecting, and help them release the burdens they've been carrying.

What is IFS therapy?

Internal Family Systems, or IFS, recognises that you have different parts inside, alongside a core Self that is naturally calm, curious, and clear. In IFS therapy, we learn that it is likely that these parts have taken on roles to help you manage pain, uncertainty, and relationships over time. We get to know these parts and explore what each part is afraid of, what it protects, and what it needs.

As your relationship with your parts changes, many people notice clearer choices, calmer relationships, and a kinder way of being with themselves.

Is this approach right for you?

IFS may be particularly helpful if you:

  • Feel torn in decisions, even after careful thought

  • Notice the same relationship and attachment patterns repeating despite trying to change

  • Experience a persistent inner critic or find yourself self-sabotaging

  • Want to understand why you react as you do, not just manage symptoms or cope better

  • Find the idea of working with "parts" makes intuitive sense

  • Have tried other forms of therapy but felt that something was missing

If you want to know yourself more deeply, ease longstanding patterns, and live with more internal alignment, IFS might be the right approach for you. If you are curious, you can read more about IFS Therapy here or can book an obligation-free connection call to find out more.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens in a typical IFS therapy session with you?

In a typical IFS session we spend a few minutes checking in, then focus on one situation, part, or pattern that feels important that day. I guide you to notice what is happening inside, connect with one or more parts, and explore what those parts are protecting and what they need.

You do not have to know how to do this beforehand. IFS therapy is a collaborative process and we move at a pace that feels manageable for you.

Do you only use IFS therapy, or do you integrate other approaches?

Most sessions are grounded in Internal Family Systems, where we pay compassionate, curious attention to your parts to relieve them of the burdens they carry.

Sometimes it helps to add other approaches for specific client needs. For example, we might use cognitive behavioural (CBT) style thought checking when a part of you is caught in rigid beliefs, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) ideas to help you notice and unhook from difficult thoughts, or Solution Focused conversations when you are working through a practical decision. If you are familiar with depth psychology and the work of Carl Jung, I also have training in depth psychology and can integrate this work when appropriate. These approaches sit around the IFS core and are used when they genuinely support you.

How long are IFS therapy sessions?

Most sessions are 90 minutes. This length allows time to move through a complete piece of IFS work in a single session, though this doesn't happen every time. The extra time means we can arrive, go deeper with a part, and complete the work without rushing.

I also offer 60-minute sessions if that better suits your schedule or budget, though these work best once we've established the process together.

How often are sessions?

Most people begin with weekly sessions. Meeting weekly helps build trust with your protective system and creates momentum as we get to know your parts.

Once the work feels established, some people move to fortnightly sessions. We'll decide together what feels sustainable for the depth of work you're seeking.

Does IFS therapy work online?

IFS therapy is particularly suited to online work. Unlike traditional talk therapy, IFS often involves guided inner work where you may close your eyes, noticing sensations, and talking with your parts. Being in your own comfortable space actually makes this easier.

The process I guide you through (whether we're closing your eyes to focus inward or talking through what you're noticing) translates naturally to video. If you have concerns about working online, we can discuss them in the free 20-minute connection call.

Who do you work with?

I work with adults who are curious about their inner world and ready to explore longstanding patterns in depth. Many clients are thoughtful professionals who've tried other approaches and are now seeking deeper, transformative work.

I see clients across Australia, New Zealand and internationally with people able to meet within time zones compatible with Australian Eastern time. If you are unsure, feel free to get in touch and I can help.

How long does IFS therapy typically take?

IFS is not brief therapy. Your inner system of parts is layered and interconnected, and it takes time to build trust with the protective parts within you. Meaningful change usually takes consistent work over several months.
